In 1964 I built my first trail. On a small hillside in my hometown in Eastern Ontario. We rode our bikes on that trail long before anyone ever heard of “mountain bikes”. In 2013 I was back in my hometown recovering from cancer treatments and while out on a bike ride I thought I’d drop by the old trail and see if I could find any signs of it after 49 years. Well! Not only did I find the trail I had built but the local mountain bike club had extended it and added new trails. The Macaulay Mountain Conservation Area trail system is a popular hiking and biking spot in Prince Edward County.
Since 1964 I have built over 100km of mountain bike trails across Canada. Mostly on Vancouver Island but I also have trails in Southern Ontario near Welland, in Eastern Quebec near Sherbrooke and I helped with a bike park in Toronto.
